Designing Vitamin D3 Formulations: An In Vitro Investigation Using a Novel Micellar Delivery System

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient with important immunomodulatory properties. As a fat-soluble compound, (and its D3 form) immiscible water, which presents challenges to absorption. In in vitro setting, the current study characterizes novel micellar formulations of designed improve Techniques used evaluate and compare against non-micellar formula include following: cryo-SEM determine morphology; laser diffraction particle size distribution; zeta potential stability particles; solubility assays water gastrointestinal media; Caco-2 cell monolayers intestinal permeability. Results show advantageous features (particle range low micrometres average −51.56 ± 2.76 mV), as well significant improvements permeability, one optimized (LipoMicel®). When introduced cells, LipoMicel’s permeability was significantly better than control (p < 0.01; ANOVA). Findings this suggest that form (LipoMicel) has promote absorption D3. Thus, it can serve promising candidate for follow-up vivo studies humans.
